My first impressions: I can't say I'm particularly impressed. Vigilantes in general never impress me, to be fair; that sort of rough-and-tough "no, I and I alone know what's right" justice gets very old, very fast. He has a point, naturally, in that the police are fairly useless a majority of the time, and usually in the pocket of whomever's richest, but I hardly think that automatically means we ought to go straight for street justice. Besides: there are cases in which there's a clear "bad guy", so to speak, and cases where it's far more grey.
He certainly does feel fervent about it. Bodies, multiple, and it was certainly a gory sight even before my double stepped on the scene. How many people deserve death? How many people does he think deserve to die?
As I write this, I'm aware of a personal bias. But it's hard to ignore. Anyone who reminds me of DeWitt will naturally spark a large degree of incredulity. Though, to his credit, Castle seems far more intelligent than DeWitt.
Anyway. This is pointless speculation until I learn more. But the man fascinates me. For all I tire of DeWitt's personal brand of "save the girl, pay the debt", it seems Castle is focused on a larger scale, and that's interesting.
Potentially life-saving, in a city like this. Perhaps he has a point-- in this time, in this place.
[ he ignores it at first. because there's a large block of text that he assumes is some heap of spam that he doesn't want to deal with, just as he really doesn't want to deal with anyone.
on account of the fact that he should double check the message in case it's something relevant to whatever it is that's going on in this city that he's trying to uncover, he does eventually go back β
until he sees the sender. then he chooses to ignore it again.
with even more consideration, he realizes ignoring it will just mean she'll come around to badger him about it later, lecturing on and on about his mind seems to work and how it ties and balances with the man in that video, so on and on.
so he reads it, only to roll his eyes with a swear under his breath because jesus christ this woman. ]
didn't realize you wanted to take the self reflection shit this far
